Let's Meet Vincent!
November 5, 2009

These are from our mini-field trip to Boston, MA to participate in a Lego Masterbuilder's Challenge! Foster, Emerson, Liam & Jack had a super time making a lot of bricks! Jack enjoyed checking out some sample figures on display. We helped build a giant Star Wars R2-D2 model by making large bricks from little bricks to be used by the builder. We all enjoyed shopping for new Lego toys at the Lego Store! Hope you can come along next time!
Let's Meet Joanna!
Hi! This is Joanna kick starting one of our meetings! I have not always had an appreciation for Lego's but since I've had 3 sons, I certainly do now! I started this club as a way to help my boys make some homeschooling friends with similar interests and I certainly achieved that goal! I'm so happy that the kids are having fun and I look forward to see what this club evolves into!

Let's Meet Michael!
Hi, my name is Michael and I like Legos because you can be creative and build what you think is cool. I also like to sing, dance and play. My favorite song from the Sound of Music is My Favorite Things. I can't wait to join the Lego Club.

Let's Meet Gabriel!
Let's Meet Zachary!

My name is Zachary. I am 10 years old. I live in Bristol with my mom, dad, younger brother Gabriel, and baby sister Kathryn. I build with Legos almost every day. I have many Lego sets that I enjoy building, but I also like to create my own designs. Here I am holding the Nautilus, Captain Nemo's ship in Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. Some of my other interests are baseball, tennis, and drawing.

1st Meeting A Success!
Thanks so much for coming to the Homeschooler's LEGO Club! It was wonderful to meet everyone and I can't wait to watch all those little fingers create some cool creations! I have pictures from the meeting that I'd like to post but if you'd rather your child's photo not be online, let me know!!
For the club kiddos:
HOMEWORK!
I'd like you to write out (or have Mom help) a short description of yourself to share with the group. We'll post it on our site with your picture! Foster & Emerson have already done this so check their's out for some inspiration. It would be best if you could email it to me but you could also bring me a written copy to the next meeting.
SHOW & TELL!
I am always willing to let you show off your LEGO creations! We'll have a show & tell time at the beginning of our meetings if you'd like to bring in a picture of your latest LEGO creation. If you can't bring a picture but really want to bring the creation - you do this at your own risk! I will let you show it off and then it will have to wait in the kitchen area until it's time to go home. We don't want any lost pieces!! Here's some themes to try to stick to:
October: something inspired by the Nathan Sawaya exhibit. If you didn't get to go see it in person, that's OK! Check out his site: http://brickartist.com/museum.html
November: re-create your Halloween costume in LEGO! If your family doesn't celebrate Halloween - that's OK! Create a LEGO Scarecrow!
SEE YOU SOON!

Field Trip Update!
Don't forget that we have a club field trip at the end of September! Click on the 'Field Trip' label at the bottom of this post to read all the relative posts.
Our original plan was to go Sunday at 2pm to take the tour with the artist - and we can still do that! But I have been emailing back and forth with the museum curator and she suggested we come during the week so there wouldn't be a large crowd. Our group has 43 kids plus 42 parents (if EVERONE goes with 2 parents).
Please click on COMMENTS below to tell me if you are planning on attending the field trip and if you'd like to keep the date the same or change to a mid-week visit!
